The SPIRECTS project combines the study of spiritual practices with the observation of ritual uses of psychedelics. It aims to analyze the socio-cultural and therapeutic implications of such practices from the perspective of both participants and facilitators.
Spirituality is understood broadly here, including informal and non-institutional practices with a collective component, studied through what we call "ritualized emerging contexts".
SPIRECTS is funded by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), developed at CICS.NOVA and coordinated by José Alberto Simões, with researchers from different institutions (see team).
